AC Milan plot move for Osimhen to replace Zlatan

ITALIAN champions AC Milan have been mentioned as the latest club interested in taking Victor Osimhen away from Napoli.

Although the Super Eagles striker has suggested that he will be at Napoli next season after his goals took them to a third-place finish in Serie A, reports linking him with a move have not stopped.

The 23-year-old Nigerian, who was named Serie A’s Young Player of the Year, has been mentioned as a subject of interest for Arsenal and Manchester United, and a price tag of €100 million has reportedly been placed on him.

Now, Milan, who won their first Serie A title in 11 years over the weekend, are said to be looking to recruit Osimhen as replacement for the 40-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who could retire soon.

The champions could also lose forward Rafael Leao, and Osimhen will become a priority for Stefano Pioli’s side in that case.

Italian outlet Area Napoli claimed that Milan are keen to further bolster their forward line with Osimhen after the acquisition of Divock Origi on a free transfer from Liverpool.

Osimhen, who joined Napoli for a reported €80m fee from Lille in 2020, has emerged as one of the best young strikers in Europe this season.

Despite missing two months of the campaign due to a nasty head injury and subsequent surgery, Osimhen scored 18 goals in 32 Serie A and UEFA Europa League appearances.
