Ireti Doyle slams Niyi Akinmolayan’s over actors asking for challenging roles

NOLLYWOOD veteran, Ireti Doyle has slammed director, Niyi Akinmolayan over his tweets of actors asking for challenging roles in the movie industry.

The ‘Chief Daddy’ director tweeted on May 22, 2022, that challenging roles need challenging money, and most actors and critics would not accept such roles without being paid. He also claimed that actors do not show up for table reads and rehearsals but want challenging roles.

“I want challenging role…I want challenging role….can you train for 3 weeks for free…No!! Can u refuse other jobs for 2 months to be in character without being paid…No. So u see my dear actor…and critics who want challenging roles. challenging roles need challenging money,” he tweeted.

In reaction to his tweet, Ireti on Monday, May 23, 2022, slammed the actor, accusing him of hiring actors who have a huge social media following, as opposed to hiring actors with talent.

She tweeted, “Perhaps if casting is based on talent and the hunger to succeed as opposed to social media numbers and who is willing to push YOUR film aggressively (at no added cost) producers wouldn’t have this particular problem.”

This has gone on to trend on the Twitter space sparking debates on the Nollywood trend of hiring reality television stars and social media influencers over talented actors.
