ANAMBRA: Killers of mother, four kids will be brought to justice – Soludo

GOVERNOR Chukwuma Soludo has condemned the murder of a pregnant woman, her four kids and others in Orumba.

A community leader told the BBC that the pregnant woman and her children were returning home on a motorcycle taxi when gunmen ambushed them.

The killings come about 24 hours after gunmen beheaded a lawmaker in the state, Okechukwu Okoye.

In a statement by Christian Aburime, Press Secretary to the Governor, Soludo described the killing as unacceptable, promising that the perpetrators would be fished out and dealt with according to law.

“The Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has condemned the reported killing in Anambra State, of a woman and her children by some yet-to-be-identified gunmen. The Governor described the killing as unacceptable, promising that the perpetrators would be fished out and dealt with according to law,” he said.

“According to Governor Soludo, all law-abiding Nigerian citizens, irrespective of tribe, religion or other affiliations, are entitled to reside and or do business in any part of the country, including the Southeast and in Anambra State, without any fear of unlawful harassment, molestation or attack of any kind, under any guise by anyone or group.

“Accordingly, no group or Nigerian is justified to harass, attack or kill any citizen of Nigeria or anyone resident in Nigeria under any guise whatsoever unless in lawful execution of a court sentence.

“While insisting that perpetrators of these heinous atrocities and their sponsors are testing the resolve of the Government and people of Anambra State, Prof Soludo assures that efforts are underway to fish out and bring to justice whoever is behind the criminal activities.

“Finally, Governor Soludo reassures all Nigerians living or doing business in Anambra State, of the resolve of the State Government to ensure adequate protection of their lives and properties at all times”.
