2023: Jandor emerges Lagos PDP Gov candidate

THE convener of Lagos4Lagos Movement, Dr Abdul-Aziz Olajide Adediran, better known as Jandor has emerged winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial primary election held in the state yesterday.

Dr. Adediran polled the highest number of votes (679) to pick the governorship ticket at the primary election conducted at the Haven Event Centre, Ikeja , Lagos. By this development, he becomes the party’s standard bearer for the 2023 governorship election in Lagos.

Earlier before the commencement of the process, major aspirants like Adedeji Doherty, Ade Dosunmu and Jim Kamal stepped down for Adediran, leaving him to slug it out with popular fashion designer, David Kolawole Vaughan popular known as Dakova, who polled 20 votes.

Addressing the delegates before commencement of the voting, Adediran commended the aspirants that stepped down, saying that all of them were qualified to govern Lagos.

He said: “I thank my colleagues who stepped down. I acknowledge their sacrifices of keeping the hope of PDP alive before my arrival. My aspiration is to rescue Lagos. I am only fortunate to be one of the last men standing.”

With a pledge to use the ticket to unite Lagos PDP so that it would Lagos come 2023, Adediran added that “This ticket is for the total emancipation of Lagos. It is a ticket that will produce the first independent governor of Lagos.”

He commended the electoral committee for a job well done and called party members and stakeholders to get to work as they have a difficult task ahead.

Describing the event as the beginning of emancipation of Lagos, the PDP candidate said: ” It is not just a PDP ticket, but a ticket for the soul of Lagos.”

Also commending the other aspirants that stepped down, Vaughan said he was in the race due to his passion to rescue Lagos from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He congratulated Adediran and pledged to support him and take Lagos from the APC, saying “Lagos has been in bondage. I will cooperate with Jandor to make Lagos better than Abuja.”
