TOTTENHAM Hotspur have continued the rebuild of their squad with the signing of Yves Bissouma from Brighton.
Antonio Conte’s side confirmed the move for the Mali midfielder today after he passed his medical.
“We are delighted to announce the transfer of Yves Bissouma from Brighton and Hove Albion, subject to the granting of a work permit,” Tottenham Hotspur stated on their official website.
“The Mali International has agreed a deal that will run until 2026.
“A dynamic midfielder, Yves began his youth career at Majestic SC before joining Malian outfit AS Real Bamako and in March, 2016, headed to France to join Lille OSC, making 55 senior appearances for Les Dogues, scoring four goals.
“In July, 2018, he signed for Brighton, making his debut the following month and registering his first league goal in July, 2020, a strike which was nominated for the Premier League’s Goal of the Month award.”
In four seasons at Brighton, Bissouma made 123 appearances in all competitions and scored six goals. He was one of their standout players as they finished ninth in the 2021/22 season, the highest top-flight finish in the club’s history.
The 25-year-old cost Tottenham Hotspur around €30m, about double what Brighton paid for him in 2018.
“I’m very happy to be here,” Bissouma said in his first Spurs interview.
He joins Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster as the new signings for Tottenham so far this season.
Bissouma has made 23 appearances for Mali, scoring three goals since making his senior debut in October, 2015.
