THREE months after the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Council of State approved their pardon, former governor of Plateau State,Joshua Dariye and his Taraba State counterpart, Jolly Nyame, have been finally released from the Nigerian Correctional Service custody.
NaijaTimes gathered the former governors and others were released on Sunday morning.
Recall that the duo were convicted by Justice Adebukola Banjoko of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in 2018 for fraud.
While Nyame was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment for diverting N1.64 billion during his tenure as governor of Taraba, Dariye was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for N1.126 billion fraud.
Spokesperson of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Federal Capital Territory Command, Abuja, Chukwuedo Humphrey, confirmed the development.
