Club Brugge join AC Milan in pursuit of Onyedika

Raphael Onyedika appears destined to leave FC Midtjylland this summer as another club has been reported as showing serious interest in the young Nigerian.

After reported interest from Serie A champions AC Milan last week led to a €6 million bid being rejected by Midtjylland, Club Brugge have now emerged as a potential destination for the 21-year-old midfielder.

The Belgian champions are reportedly keen on the Nigerian as they prepare for this season’s UEFA Champions League campaign and the defence of their Pro League title.

According to Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws, Club Brugge are prepared to offer around €5 million for the holding midfielder.

However, the report claimed that FC Midtjylland, the former club of Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu, are demanding around €8m at the minimum.

While AC Milan’s interest appears to have cooled in the last few days, Club Brugge are said to be intensifying efforts to secure the services of Onyedika, who was impressive last season in the Danish top flight.

Onyedika had his breakthrough season at FC Midtjylland last term, making 48 appearances in all competitions, including the UEFA Champions League qualifiers and the Europa League proper.

He scored four goals and made three assists. He has already made nine appearances this season, six in the Supaligaen and three in Champions League qualifiers.

The midfielder, who joined FC Midtjylland U-19s from Lagos club FC Ebedei in 2019, has four years left on his current contract with the Danish club.
