ADAMAWA: APC expels Abbo for anti-party activities

THE executives of the local government chapter of the All Progressives Congress have expelled Senator Elisha Abbo, the lawmaker for Adamawa North, for allegedly engaging in anti-party actions and interfering with the party’s internal democratic process.

The contentious senator, who has continued to be one of the outspoken opponents of the ruling party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket, was fired for disparaging Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, on national television.

This was stated in his letter of expulsion, which was signed by 13 state executives yesterday.

The Mubi North Local Government Area excos stated after their meeting yesterday that they had considered several factors before deciding to expel him, including the disciplinary committee’s report.

The statement read in part, “Consequently, 29 members of the committee have approved the report of the disciplinary committee dated 5th day of October, 2022. Wherefore, expelled Senator Elisha Ishiyahu Abbo, based on the Interview granted on the AIT where he was condemning and criticising the Party presidential flag.”

When called yesterday night, APC’s publicity secretary, Adamawa State chapter, Mohammed Abdullahi stated that they had not been officially informed of the situation.

Abdullahi however voiced his concerns about the situation, he pointed out that while the ward executives might suspend any disloyal members, they lacked the authority to dismiss them.
