CAF Women’s CL: Bayelsa Queens drawn against Mamelodi in tough group

Nigeria’s Bayelsa Queens will battle defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns in the group phase of the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League, the draw has revealed.

The draw for the second edition of the competition was held in Rabat, Morocco today, with eight clubs placed in two groups.

The competition will take place in Morocco from October 30 to November 13.

Bayelsa Queens, who won the Nigeria Women’s Football League title and triumphed in the West African regional playoffs, will also face Wadi Degla of Egypt and a yet-to-be-determined side from the North African region in Group B.

Group A has hosts ASFAR of Morocco, who finished third last year in Egypt, Tanzania’s Simba Queens, Zambia’s Green Buffaloes and Liberia’s Determine Girls.

The competition’s first matchday will be on October 30 and October 31, while the group stage fixtures will be concluded on November 6.

The semi-finals are scheduled for November 9, and the losers of those clashes will meet three days later in the third-place match.
