ART X Lagos 2022 explores ‘Who Will Gather Under the Baobab Tree?’, Nov 4-6

FOR its seventh season, the global art platform, ARTX has fixed November 4-6 at the Federal Palace Hotel Lagos.

A release from the organisers says 31 galleries from around Africa and the Diasporas will feature in the big exhibition platform, which in its short lifespan has become a truly global visual arts project.

“It’s been 7 years of creating and evolving West Africa’s leading international art fair, and our refreshed brand identity reflects our re-energized commitment to celebrating and amplifying the breadth of Africa’s creative expression,” says the statement.

“This year’s theme, “Who Will Gather Under the Baobab Tree?” highlights art’s unique ability to inspire, uplift, educate and empower, inviting our audience to revisit the past as a precursor to looking forward.

“Through a programme of specially curated projects and conversations, we will discourse and dialogue on African histories, philosophies, systems of governance and more, interrogating what can be learned from the past, as we contemplate the issues faced within Nigeria and Africa, and imagine the future.”
