Oghenekaro Etebo has left Stoke City to team up with Aris Thessaloniki, it has been confirmed.
The Greek Super League club announced the Super Eagles midfielder’s signing last night on a one-year deal from Stoke City.
“PAE ARIS announces the signing of Oghenekaro Peter Etebo, as his full name is, for next year,” the Greek club stated on their official website.
“Peter Etebo was born in Warri, Nigeria on November 9, 1995. His impressive performances for Warri Wolves in his first professional steps did not go unnoticed by many European clubs.”
Etebo spent last season on loan at Watford but has not featured at all for Stole City in the Championship since his return.
Since joining Stoke City in July 2018, Etebo has been on loan more than he has been at the club, having loan spells at Getafe, Galatasaray and Watford.
“As of today, Oghenekaro Peter Etebo belongs to the ARIS family!” the club added.
The English club also announced Etebo’s departure on their official website last night.
“Stoke City can confirm that Peter Etebo has completed a permanent transfer to Greek side Aris,” they wrote.
“The 26-year-old made 51 appearances for the Potters after joining the Club in the summer of 2018.
“We would like to take this opportunity to wish Peter well for the future.”
Etebo, who has 44 Nigeria caps, will be playing under former Newcastle United and Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew, who was named Aris Thessaloniki boss yesterday.
Aris Thessaloniki, who are currently sixth in the Greek Super League table, have won the title three times, although their last triumph was in 1946.
