UEL: Uzoho benched as Omonia almost shock Man United, Sociedad, PSV win.

Super Eagles goalkeeper Francis Uzoho was an unused substitute today as his club Omonia Nicosia lost 3-2 at home to Manchester United in a UEFA Europa League clash.

Omonia scored first before United took a 3-1 lead but the stubborn Cypriots pulled one back and almost snatched a shocking draw.

Substitute Marcus Rashford inspired United’s turnaround, scoring two of the goals and setting up fellow substitute Anthony Martial to the English side a nervy Group E win.

The Cypriot side took a shock lead into half-time through Karim Ansarifard.

United manager Erik Ten Hag then introduced Rashford at the break and the England international scored eight minutes later before assisting Martial 10 minutes later.

Rashford made it 3-1 with six minutes left and Cristiano Ronaldo missed several opportunities before Nikolas Panayiotou pulled one back for the hosts.

Omonia remain bottom of the group without any points, while United are second behind Real Sociedad, who won 2-0 at Sheriff Tiraspol to maintain their perfect record.

In Group A, PSV Eindhoven thrashed FC Zurich 5-1 in Switzerland, with Yorbe Vertessen and Cody Gakpo each scoring twice.

The Dutch side, coached by former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistlerooy, are second in the group, behind Bodo/Glimt who are away to third-placed Arsenal tonight.

In other evening kick-off results, Germany’s Union Berlin won 1-0 at Sweden’s Malmo, while Sturm Graz and Lazio played out a 0-0 draw in Austria.
