Barcelona are on the verge of dropping down to the UEFA Europa League after a 3-3 draw at Camp Nou tonight in their UEFA Champions League clash against Inter Milan.
The Spanish giants had to win tonight to put them in a strong position for a runners-up finish in Group C, but they needed an added time equaliser to snatch a point.
Ousmane Dembele gave Barcelona the lead in the 40th minute, which they took into half-time.
But Inter Milan scored twice through Nicolo Barella and Lautaro Martinez to take a 2-1 lead midway into the second half.
Barcelona drew level with eight minutes left through Robert Lewandowski but Inter Milan were back in front again in the 89th minute via Robin Gosens’ strike.
Lewandowski struck again three minutes into injury time to earn Barcelona a point that is unlikely enough to keep them in the competition beyond the group stages.
With the result, Inter Milan are second in the group with seven points and need just three points from their final two games to advance to the round of 16.
The group is led by Bayern Munich, who sealed their passage into the knockout rounds with a 4-2 win over pointless Viktoria Plzen, the Germans’ fourth victory in four games.
Sadio Mane, Thomas Muller and Leon Goretzka scored as Bayern stretched their unbeaten run in the Champions League group stage to a record-extending 32 games.
In Group A, Mohamed Salah came off the bench to score the fastest-ever Champions League hat-trick as Liverpool demolished Rangers 7-1 in Glasgow.
The hosts took the lead when Scott Arfield finished off a fine team move, but Roberto Firmino scored twice and Darwin Nunez struck before Salah’s record hat-trick.
The Egyptian’s three goals came in the space of six minutes 12 seconds, beating Bafetimbi Gomis’s eight-minute hat-trick in another 7-1 win back in 2011, for Lyon at Dinamo.
The win all but sealed Liverpool’s qualification for the round of 16 as they are comfortably in second place behind Napoli, six points better off than third-placed Ajax with two matches to go.
In Group D, Harry Kane and Son Heung-min were both on the scoresheet as Tottenham Hotspur defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 3-2 in London to go top.
Marseille beat 10-man Sporting Lisbon 2-0 in Portugal to go joint-second with their hosts in the tight group.
In Group B, Porto, with Super Eagles left-back Zaidu Sanusi playing all 90 minutes, stunned Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in Germany, with Mehdi Taremi netting twice.
The win took Porto up to second in the group, two points ahead of Atletico Madrid and three better off than Leverkusen.
