CAF invites bids for 2025 AFCON hosting rights

The Confederation of African Football has re-opened the bidding process for the hosting rights of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The tournament was initially awarded to Guinea but the West African country withdrew earlier this year due to a lack of finance to fund the project.

“CAF today sent a notice to the Member Associations to express their interest in hosting the AFCON 2025, including the process that will be followed in the selection of the host country or countries,” CAF announced on its official website today.

The bidding process schedule starts with the submission of the declaration of interest form, which has a November 11 deadline.

CAF then has until November 16 to send the hosting documents to countries that have declared their interest.

By December 16, interested member associations must have submitted their final bids, including all bidding and hosting documents: hosting agreement, host cities agreement and government guarantees.

CAF will pay inspection visits to the bidding countries from January 5 to January 25, 20223 to assess their facilities.

The host country will be named by the CAF executive committee on February 10, 2023.
