OSUN: Tribunal admits Oyetola’s new documentary evidence

THE State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, presented election results from four local government areas yesterday before the panel hearing his petition against the Peoples Democratic Party candidate at the last July 17 governorship poll, Ademola Adeleke, before the Osun State Election Petition Tribunal.

On Tuesday, Oyetola submitted documents that included election results from the Ede North, Ede South, and Osogbo local government areas through his attorney Lateef Fagbemi, SAN.

At yesterday’s hearing, the petitioner requested that documents detailing the election results from four additional local governments be admitted as exhibits through his attorney, Yomi Aliu, SAN.

Additionally, Aliu stated that the respondents in the case had reviewed the documents he sought to present to the court through their counsel and urged the panel to allow them as exhibits.

Responding, counsel to the 1st respondent, the Independent National Electoral Commission, Niyi Owolade and Nathaniel Oke, SAN, who represented Senator Adeleke, the second respondent, as well as Olakunle Faokunla, representing the PDP, objected to the documents but stated that they had already reviewed the results.

Among the documents submitted are: Election results from 10 wards in Egbedore, 11 wards in Ejigbo, 10 wards in Ilesa West, and 11 wards in Irepodun local government areas of the state.

Justice Tertsea Kume, the Tribunal Chairman, acknowledged the documents in his decision and designated them as exhibits in front of the panel.

He then postponed the proceedings till Thursday.
