BAYELSA: Flood displaced 90% of traditional rulers in our state – Monarchs

THE traditional leaders of Bayelsa State have lamented of how the furnishings and priceless equipments received over the years from their forefathers have all been corroded away by the state’s destructive flood.

In an interview with reporters yesterday, King Bubaraye Dakolo, the chairman of the Bayelsa State Traditional Rulers Council and the Ibenanaowei of the Ekpetiama Kingdom in the Yenagoa Local Government Area, stated that about 90% of the traditional rulers in the state had been driven from their palaces as a result of the flooding this year.

He stated that the flood of 2022 has wreaked catastrophic destruction throughout the state and beyond.

He however pleaded with the federal government to assist the state in addressing some post-flood issues even as the floodwaters begin to subside.
