Lookman’s seventh Serie A goal not enough for Atalanta vs Inter Milan

Ademola Lookman extended his prolific form today but his Atalanta side lost at home to Inter Milan despite his goal.

The Super Eagles forward opened the the scoring but Atalanta conceded three goals and lost the Serie A clash 3-2 to Inter Milan at the Gewiss Stadium.

Lookman fired Atalanta in front from the penalty spot in the 25th minute but the lead lasted only 11 minutes as Edin Dzeko equalised for the visitors.

Inter Milan turned it around and edged ahead 11 minutes after the break through Dzeko again.

The 2021 champions took the game beyond Atalanta in the 61st minute when Jose Luis Palomino’s own goal gave them a 3-1 lead.

Palomino atoned for his error with a goal in the right net with 13 minutes left, but Inter held on.

With the win, Inter rose to fourth spot, while Atalanta are sixth in the standings.

Lookman, who is in the Super Eagles squad for the friendly against Portugal on Thursday, has scored six goals in his last seven Serie A games.

The Nigeria international has seven goals and three assists in 15 appearances overall, making him Atalanta’s top scorer.
