Qatar 2022: Cameroon not afraid of Brazil, we’re a big team — Captain Aboubakar

Cameroon will not play with any fear when they face Brazil at the Qatar 2022 World Cup, according to captain Vincent Aboubakar.

The Brazilians are one of the favourites to go all the way at the tournament, which kicks off tomorrow, and they are in the same group with the five-time African champions.

The two sides will clash in the last round of Group G matches on December 2, and Aboubakar is looking forward to the encounter.

“We won’t be afraid of Brazil,” the 30-year-old Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia striker told FIFA+.

“We, however, are also a big team, representing a big country, and we believe we can go far. We let our football do the talking.

“This tournament features the best teams in the world, and we have to prepare well in order to compete.”

Aboubakar, who scored eight goals to top the scoring charts at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon in January, is heading to his third World Cup after featuring at South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014.

The Indomitable Lions, who were the first African team to reach the World Cup quarter-finals at Italia ’90, begin their quest in Qatar on Thursday against Switzerland before facing Serbia four days later.

Five-time world champions Brazil are the top team in the group and are in Qatar with global superstars including Paris Saint-Germain’s Neymar, Manchester United’s Casemiro, Alisson of Liverpool and Thiago Silva of Chelsea.
