Unai Emery is still keen to take Samuel Chukwueze with him to Aston Villa, according to reports in Europe.
The Spanish coach recently left Villarreal to take charge at Aston Villa, and he has been heavily linked with interest in the Super Eagles forward.
Chukwueze thrived under Emery at Villarreal before the coach joined Aston Villa in November to replace the sacked Steven Gerrard.
A reunion of the Spanish coach and his Nigerian star player is on the cards, according to Football Insider.
The report claimed that Aston Villa are willing to cough up €40 million for the Nigeria international, who has spent all his career in Europe at Villarreal.
Chukwueze, who won the FIFA U-17 World Cup with Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets in 2015 along with Victor Osimhen, joined Villarreal’s U-19s from Diamond Academy in 2017 for around €500,000 and rose through the ranks to the first team.
The report claimed that Villarreal will be willing to let go of Chukwueze in January.
The 23-year-old Super Eagles star had a decent start to the season before the Qatar 2022 World Cup break, contributing five goals and six assists in 21 appearances in all competitions.
