NASARAWA: Govt employs 300 health workers

THE Nasarawa State government has converted no fewer than 300 casual and volunteer health professionals into permanent staff with pension benefits across the state’s 13 Local Government.

The executive chairman of the state’s Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Mohammed Usman Adis disclosed this information today in Lafia while defending the Agency’s 2023 budget before the State House of Assembly Committee on Health.

He clarified that the newly hired staff members were people who had previously worked for a considerable amount of time at the state’s primary healthcare facilities.

According to Adis, the state’s population’s health would significantly improve with the incorporation of casual and volunteer health workers.

He reaffirmed his ongoing commitment to directing and coordinating the work of primary healthcare facilities throughout the state to improve the health of its citizens.

Usman Labaran Shafa, the head of the House Committee on Health, commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for highlighting the importance of the state’s healthcare system.

“I want to commend His Excellency for approving the absorption of casual and volunteer health workers into pensionable and Permanent appointments.

“We will continue to support you and other health agencies in the state to succeed, ” he added.
