PLATEAU: Atiku promises to restore peace, reconstruct roads leading to state

THE presidential candidate for the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has promised to boost mining operations in Plateau State and reestablish peace.

He made the commitment during the party’s presidential rally in Jos and stressed that, if elected, his administration would ensure that the federal roads connecting the Plateau and other bordering states were rebuilt.

He said, “Despite the strategic position of Plateau State in the country, roads linking it with other parts of the country have become death traps and unmotorable.

“We will construct all roads linking Plateau and other neighboring states, because the APC have failed to construct them.”

“If the people of Plateau want peace, they should vote PDP. We promise you that we will restore peace to Plateau, ” the PDP candidate said.

On the issue of tourism, the presidential candidate said Plateau was renowned for its nice weather and ambience, a potential that could generate millions of dollars to benefit the people and the State economy, if showcased.

“Our government, working hand in hand with the State government, would work to improve tourism nationwide to enhance internally generated revenue and improve the lot of the people,” he said.

If elected President, Atiku promised that his administration would not be marginalized and would make sure that the residents of the state had the proper positions with the Federal Government.

The PDP National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, said in a statement that the PDP was the party of the people and that Plateau State residents should continue to support it in order to promote social progress and peace. He added, “Do not say you will vote one person in the PDP, and another one in another party.

Caleb Mutfwang, the PDP’s candidate for governor in the state, stated in his speech that the party had never lost a presidential election in Plateau State and that the gathering on Tuesday was a sign that the party will triumph in the Plateau.
