A petrol tanker today exploded and caught fire near the Apata intersection on the Ibadan–Abeokuta road, Oyo State.
It was learnt that the tanker lost control and slammed into some shops opposite the NNPC filling station before erupting into flames.
Social media went viral with videos that showed the blazing fire and the cries for help from onlookers and witnesses.
However, according to reports, the state fire department personnel were on the site not long after the fire incident.
Adewale Osifeso, the spokesman for the Oyo State Police Command, verified the occurrence and said that the local Division Police Officer had sent officers to the location.
