KANO: Hisbah arrests 19 youths at same-sex wedding

NINETEEN young people were detained at a well-known event center by members of the Kano State Hisbah Board for having same-sex marriages.

According to reports, the young adults in their early twenties gathered to see the marriage of Abba and Mujahid, two suspected homosexuals.

According to information obtained, Hisbah agents from the board’s Sharada, Kano, office were on the scene before the wedding had started, which is why 15 females and 4 males were detained.

The occurrence was confirmed by the Commander-General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Harun Ibn Sina, who also added that the arrest was made in response to a report about the same-sex marriage from a good samaritan.

He stated that the duo tagged as ‘bride and groom’, Abba and Mujahid escaped immediately after the arrival of Hisbah personnel at the wedding venue.

Salma Usman, the event’s organizer, who is 21 years old, is currently in their custody, Ibn Sina pointed out, adding that the board would step up efforts to ensure the capture of Abba and Mujahid.

Given that the majority of the women claimed to have been invited to the wedding from a neighboring state, the Commander-General insisted that the Kano State Hisbah Board would turn over those in their care to the police so they could take the appropriate measures. He reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to ridding the state of all vices.
