BAUCHI: Six dead, two injured from car accident

SIX persons have been confirmed dead and two others have suffered various degrees of injuries, in a catastrophic car accident that occurred yesterday morning at Kwara village, Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

According to Bauchi Yakubu, the chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Bogoro, the accident happened when Aliyu Yakubu, the driver, attempted to avoid potholes but wound up entering a ditch after the car somersaulted.

“I received a phone call early this morning around 5am that a vehicle, J5 boxer conveying some people and cattle from Taraba to Mararaba Market in Liman Katagum had a ghastly accident in Kwara village. We rushed to the scene of the incident and discovered that some of them had died already while some later died in the hospital. Their corpses are now at the General Hospital, Bogoro,” he said.

The state sector command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Yusuf Abdullahi, confirmed the collision and the number of fatalities.

Abdullahi, revealed that the victims and corpses were taken to the General Hospital in Bogoro, where a doctor confirmed the death of six people.

Further information revealed that the victims were from Taraba State and were on their way to the Mararaban Liman Katagum market in Bauchi LGA when the incident took place.

Some of the victims were identified as Adamu Abdullahi (20) a native of Mararaba Liman Katagum and Husseini Dahiru Sarkin Kudu (25) while the identity of four others remains unknown.

The driver Aliyu Yakubu and one Idris Magaji, however, both survived the accident and are still receiving treatment at the hospital.
