KOGI: Kidnappers kill woman after collecting ransom

JUMMAI Usman Daniel was allegedly abducted by hoodlums at Ogane-aji-Anyigba in the Dekina LGA of Kogi State, and they killed her after demanding N300,000 in ransom.

According to her family the alleged kidnappers reportedly struck at her home in the Anyigba suburb of Ogane-aji on Wednesday around 8 p.m. and took her to their hideout in the woods.

The late Daniel, who was born in Oganenigwu but lived in Ogane-aji-Anyigba, was reportedly with her little grandson in her home when hoodlums entered to kidnap her.

The family revealed that on Thursday, that the attackers approached them and demanded N2 million in ransom.

“The initial ransom demand of N2 million was later reduced to N300,000 which the family paid through a POS, as requested her alleged kidnappers in a phone contact.

“After we had paid the money, we did not see her. Later, the kidnappers told us to check at the back of her house.

“We were surprised to see her corpse under a cashew tree behind her house on Friday night,” said a person from the family of the deceased woman who craved anonymity.

The POS operator was said to have been arrested by vigilantes and hunters in the area on Saturday, and handed over to the police.

When contacted, the Kogi State Police Command’s spokesman, SP William Aya promised to get in touch but didn’t as at the time of this report.
