AL NASSR have announced the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo as a free agent.
The Saudi Arabian club confirmed the 37-year-old Portuguese superstar’s arrival tonight with a short statement on Twitter and a picture.
“History in the making. This is a signing that will not only inspire our club to achieve even greater success but inspire our league, our nation and future generations, boys and girls to be the best version of themselves,” the club wrote.
Ronaldo joined the former club of Super Eagles forward Ahmed Musa on a free transfer after having his Manchester United contract terminated in November.
The deal with the Saudi Arabia Pro League club is believed to be for an initial two years, reportedly worth around an incredible £175 million to the player per annum.
The overall deal is for seven years in total, according to reports in Spain, with the Portugal captain set to play for two years before taking up an ambassadorial role.
His payment will reportedly increase over time and part of his role as an ambassador will be to help Saudi Arabia’s joint bid with Egypt and Greece to host the 2030 World Cup, according to reports.
