THE Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has expressed concern over the wave of vandalism on its networks adding that there has been a recent theft of an underground power line worth N5 million.
The Chief Marketing Officer of AEDC, Donald Etim, released the following statement yesterday: “Recently, 185 meters of XLPE underground cable were carted away at the Central Business Area, Abuja FCT, valued at over N5 million at just one location out of several others that have been similarly affected across our franchise”.
Etim emphasized that AEDC would continue to make investments in network upgrades, the refurbishment of damaged transformers, the purchase of new transformers, and the construction of new feeders and lines to relieve existing ones in order to ensure that it provides an adequate, uninterrupted power supply.
According to the representative, regarding customer services, the company, has improved on metering by bringing meters to client cluster areas and having them metered within 24 hours.
