THE FRSC’s Edo State Sector Commander, Paul Okpe, has revealed that 134 people lost their lives in 255 road accidents that happened in the state of Edo in 2022.
According to Okpe, who made this announcement yesterday in Benin, 1,934 passengers were involved in the incidents, but 133 died.
He attributed excessive speeding, reckless driving, route violations, driving while intoxicated, seatbelt violations, and driving with worn-out tires, among other traffic infractions, as major factors responsible for the accidents.
He explained that the command had increased its presence on the roads especially the corridors prone to accidents in the state.
Okpe urged drivers and other road users to always abide by traffic laws and regulations in order to stay alive.
