Waldrum names Oshoala, 22 others in Super Falcons squad for Revelation Cup in Mexico

SUPER Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum has invited 23 players, including in-form Barcelona striker Asisat Oshoala, for the Revelation Cup tournament in Leon, Mexico next month.

The tournament, which will be played between February 15 and February 21, is to prepare for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in July and August.

Among the other players called up to a strong Super Falcons squad are captain Onome Ebi, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, midfielder Ngozi Okobi, as well as forwards Rasheedat Ajibade and Mexico-based Uchenna Kanu.

Hosts Mexico, Costa Rica and Colombia are the other participating teams joining Nigeria in the tournament in the State of Guanajuato.

The Super Falcons will play their first game against Mexico starting at 4pm Mexican time (10pm Nigerian time) on Wednesday, February 15, three hours after the opening match between Costa Rica and Colombia.

On Saturday, February 18, the nine-time African champions will face Colombia at 1pm Mexican time (7pm Nigerian time), before Costa Rica square up against the host nation.

Costa Rica will be Nigeria’s last opponents from 5pm Mexican time (11pm Nigerian time) on Tuesday, February 21, before hosts Mexico and Colombia draw the curtains on the four-nation tourney.

Nigeria’s delegation to the tournament will depart on Saturday, February 11 for Mexico.

At the Women’s World Cup, the Super Falcons are in Group B with co-hosts Australia, Olympic champions Canada and debutants Republic of Ireland.
