CONCERNS has been raised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) regarding a LinkedIn account allegedly belonging to the Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede.
According to a statement from JAMB Spokesperson Dr. Fabian Benjamin the phony account had been issuing friend requests to members of the public.
He described it as a scheme designed solely to swindle trusting members of the public.
“The Board wishes to state that Prof. Is-haq Oloyede does not own or operate any social media account and neither has he asked anybody to open or manage one on his behalf,” the statement read.
Nevertheless, it should be noted that LinkedIn is a social networking site created especially for the business world. It should be highlighted that the site’s objective is to allow registered users to establish professional connections with people they know and trust, he stated, adding that Prof. Oloyede neither belongs to this class of persons nor intends to join.
The erudite professor stated that the disclaimer was necessary in light of some unscrupulous individuals who had allegedly opened a LinkedIn account on his behalf in order to deceive unwary members of the public with false claims that he was assisting in networking business enterprises, managing careers, offering jobs, running a research firm, or connecting individuals with business contacts of firms or industry through the account.
However, the Board cautioned the public to be vigilant against these criminal elements in order to avoid falling for scams.
