Afro-fusion music star, Oluwaseun Oluyole professionally known as Sean Dampte, pulled a stunning performance at his headline sold-out show, ‘Sean Dampte Live In Concert’ (SDLIC), which held last Friday at the Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The event further strengthened the essence of Sean Dampte’s story told through his ‘Awoodah trilogy’ extended play series, as well as his consistency over the years that has made him a focal point in the subject of easy music.
The high octane music show had in attendance popular music artistes and dancers such as 1da Banton, Soft, Magnito, Rayce, whose energetic performances had the audience yelling with love.
Also in attendance was the father of Mavin Record chief executive officer, Don Jazzy.
Highpoint of the night was when the man of the moment, Sean Dampte, mounted the stage with the live band to unleash a brilliant performance.
He left the audience stunned with club banger records from his catalogue, ranging from ‘Lagos to London, Hide your girls, Pe pe, Jejely, Baba won, Tender body, Agbada, Gyals, 2Nite, Mr Lover man’ as well as his ‘Awoodah’ trilogy.
The performance made fans and other lovers of good music asking for more like fiction Oliver Twist. No thanks to the artiste over a decade music career that has transcend from putting out quality records that makes up one of the most brilliant Afrobeats catalogues to holding down the ‘Awoodah’ culture of happiness, and a firmly fitted fan base both in Nigeria and London.
His presence and journey so far in the music industry has distinguished him as a steadfast player who moves from one exploit to another given the critical acceptance and success of body of works he put out this year.
The #SDLIC no doubt led everyone in attendance at the concert into a phase of new expectations from the ‘Jejely’ crooner, as he appears more prepared to serve hot tunes in the coming year.
Like he promised prior to the concert to make the whole pack come out to play, there was massive turn out of fans, with many scrambling to get ticket, almost marred the show, as the concert was a sold out. As a result, many fans weren’t happy due to the inability to secure tickets at the gate.
Notwithstanding the ticket challenge, which threw spanner in the wheel of success of the concert, the organisers admitted to have underestimated the large number of Sean Dampte’s fan base in Nigeria.
Basking in the euphoria of success of the Lagos concert, Sean Dampte assured fans that #SDLIC would come alive in Abuja, United Kingdom and other locations at later dates with more effective measures that will rectify the minor challenge had at the Lagos event, as strategies will be put in place to cater for a larger crowd.
Recall that this is the first time music artiste is assembling his audience in Nigeria to connect with them. Though, during the 2021 ‘Detty December’ gigs, he headlined a good number of shows including ‘Buju Live in Concert’, where he and Seyi Vibez had a good time during the latter’s concert held at the African Shrine, Ikeja, Lagos.
