MANCHESTER United manager Erik ten Hag has insisted that the club must continue to get positive results despite several players missing due to suspension injuries.
Influential midfielder Casemiro is ruled out of tomorrow night’s Premier League clash at home to Leeds United, along with Antony.
Both Brazilians were involved in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace, with Casemiro receiving a straight red card for violent conduct and Antony picking up an injury.
Anthony Martial, Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay will also not be available for the clash, but Ten Hag is not ready to make any excuses.
“They [Martial and McTominay] are not involved tomorrow,” said Ten Hag at his press conference today. “And the same with Antony dos Santos. He is also not available for tomorrow so we have to sort that out.
“I’m the manager. I always have to play with the players who are available. We have a squad, we have many good players available in that squad, who are not always in the starting XI. So, others [will] get the chance and I have to do it.
“After the game, I can’t say Casemiro is not there, Anthony Martial is not there. No, we have to win. This squad, all players in [it], are Man United capable, so they have to perform tomorrow and we have to win the games, no matter who is coming on the pitch.”
It will be Ten Hag’s first fixture against Leeds United since his appointment in the summer.
United will face Leeds United again at Elland Road on Sunday, the fixtures coming back-to-back because of the disrupted schedule.
Casemiro will miss the second clash too as well as the visit of Leicester City on February 19 as he completes his three-match ban.
