PSC removes Naja’atu from election duty

THE Police Service Commission has replaced Hajiya Naja’atu Mohammed, the former Director of the Civil Society Directorate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, from being one of the coordinators who will oversee the conduct of police officers during the upcoming general elections.

Her dismissal occurred five hours after the ruling APC objected to her being among the 45 coordinators who will monitor the behavior of police officers on election duty.

The Commission had assigned Muhammad as one of the coordinators who would supervise the conduct of police officers’ affairs, but Festus Keyamo, Director Public Affairs and Spokesman of the APC campaign council, said in a statement today that she should be withdrawn immediately.

Keyamo stated in the statement that the appointment is not only “callous, it is insensitive, openly confrontational and consequently unacceptable by the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council”.

However, the commission quickly bowed to pressure, announcing that it had invited a former Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Bawa Lawal (rtd), who is from the same geopolitical zone as Commissioner Najatu, to take over coordination of the zone’s monitoring of Police Conduct.

Ikechukwu Ani, spokesman of the commission, told Daily Trust that “the commission will always be sensitive to the wishes of Nigerians and will continue to contribute it’s quota to the sustenance of the nation’s democracy.”

Ani explained, “The Commission wishes to state with all sense of responsibility that its commissioners representing different geopolitical zones have always supervised assignments of the commission in the geopolitical zones they represent. It was the same with the present national assignment.

“It wishes to restate its commitment to a free and fair 2023 elections where the Police as the lead Agency in internal security which includes election policing will discharge it’s duties according to the dictates of the law.”

I CAN NO LONGER FATHOM WHY MOST THING INCLUDING POLICIES FROM THIS CURRENT FEDERAL GOVERNMENT MAKES NO SENSE WITH ASSAULTS ON OUR PSYCHE AND INTELLIGENCE.

What is wrong with them in Aso Rock?

THEY PROBABLY THOUGHT THEY COULD INSULT OUR SENSES AND GET AWAY WITH IT.

Something appears wrong somewhere and the earlier they fished it out, the better for the nation.
