FAAN recruits 381 cadets to beef up security at airports

THE Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has hired 381 security officers to beef up security and protect lives and property at the country’s federal airports.

The Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, stated during the passing out parade ceremony at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), that the cadets who had received three months training would be posted in the country’s various airports.

He added that the recruiting was in line with the government’s commitment to providing security in the aviation industry, which he described as one of the country’s most important areas of engagement.

Sirika, represented by Captain Talba Alkali, a ministry director, stated that they also wished to fulfill Annex 17 of the International Civil Aviation Organization criteria, which is to ensure a secure aviation environment.

Capt. Rabiu Yadudu, the airport’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, added that the protection of life and healthcare were the main concerns of the sector, therefore the need for more staff to support the sector.
