Kano: Gunmen kill traditional ruler in Rimin Gado

THE head of Maigari village in Kano State’s Rimin Gado Local Government Area, Dahiru Abba, was killed by gunmen today.

The victim was murdered in the early hours of the day.

DSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the state’s police public relations officer, verified the incident to Channels Television during an interview.

Lawyer Munir Dahiru Maigari, the son of the late traditional ruler and Chairman of Rimin Gado Local Government, said gunmen broke into his father’s house at 2 a.m., assaulted him, and then opened fire.

He expressed shock and sadness over his father’s death, saying that the family is still coming to terms with what happened.

“We cannot say anything regarding the cause of what happened for now, but he is dead, and we pray for God’s mercy on his soul,” Maigari stated.

Dahiru Abba was a widely revered traditional monarch in the area, and his death shocked the whole community.

The police have not released any information about potential suspects or motives for the attack, but investigations are said to be ongoing.

Meanwhile, preparations are being made for his funeral ceremony, which is set to take place today at his home in Maigari village.

The community is expected to pay their condolences and grieve the passing of their beloved leader in great numbers.
