‘Disappointed’ Ronaldo kicks bottles after Al Nassr defeat

CRISTIANO Ronaldo stormed off down the tunnel in a fit of rage and disappointment last night after his side Al Nassr were beaten in a Saudi Pro League clash.

Al Nassr lost their top spot in the league to their conquerors Al-Ittihad after the 1-0 defeat and the Portuguese superstar did not take kindly to the result.

Post-match footage shows the 38-year-old Ronaldo kicking water bottles out of his way as he strides towards the tunnel, shrugging off some of his teammates as Ittihad fans chant ‘Messi’ to rile him up.

The match was the second in row in which the five-time Ballon d’Or winner failed to score, with Al-Ittihad goalkeeper Marcelo Grohe saving a fierce shot from him in stoppage time.

Brazilian Romarinho scored the only goal of the tight encounter 10 minutes from time to seal victory for Al-Ittihad, whose fans taunted Ronaldo throughout the match.

Former Real Madrid and Manchester United forward Ronaldo, who has scored eight goals in seven league games this season, took off his captain’s armband before leaving the pitch and looked set to throw it, before regaining his composure.

After his display, an apparently calm Ronaldo tweeted later, expressing his disappointment but thanking Al Nassr fans for standing by the club.

“Disappointed with the result, but we stay focused on our season and the games ahead,” he wrote.

“Thank you Al-Nassr fans for your support, we know we can count on you!”

Al-Ittihad have 47 points from 20 games to lead the 16-team league, one point ahead of Al Nassr who have played the same number of fixtures.
