KATSINA: INEC declares Dikko Radda governor-elect

THE All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Katsina State, Dr. Dikko Radda, has been declared the winner of Saturday’s election.

Radda received 859,892 votes to defeat his closest opponent, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Senator Yakubu Danmarke, who received 486,620 votes.

Professor Mu’azu Gusau, the State Returning Officer for the election and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Gusau, announced the results today around 8:56 p.m. at the Governorship Election Collation Centre in Katsina.

The total number of votes cast are 1,386, 427, valid votes are 1,365,848 and rejected votes are 20, 579.

According to Professor Gusau, there are 3,516,719 registered voters and 1,399,291 accredited voters.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) received 4,226 votes, while the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) received 8,263 votes. The Social Democratic Party (SDP) received 1,049 votes.

The Labour Party (LP) received 560 votes, while the National Rescue Movement (NRM) received 896 and the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) received 132 votes.
