THE All Progressives Congress Campaign Coordinator in Ahoada-West Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chisom Lennard, was shot dead by gunmen hours after he was kidnapped.
Lennard was reportedly kidnapped by gunmen dressed in police uniforms as he voted in the governorship and state House of Assembly elections at Ibagwa polling unit 2 ward 10 in Ahoada West LGA.
According to reports, the APC chieftain attempted to stop the gunmen from stealing election materials before he was whisked away in a commando fashion.
Darlington Nwauju, the State APC Publicity Secretary, confirmed the incident to newsmen.
Nwauju stated, “He was abducted from his polling unit during the voting process and taken away.
“Nobody knew where they took him to. It was later in the evening of Saturday that his body was discovered.
“He was APC LGA caretaker chairman and was a PhD student at the Rivers State University.”
Late Lennard’s body was discovered in a pool of his own blood along the Ibueahi-Ubeta road in the state’s Ahoada+West LGA.
During Rotimi Amaechi’s tenure, the late APC chieftain was an estate surveyor and a former board member of the Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority.
When contacted, the state Police Command’s spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, said she would confirm the incidence from the Ahoada Area command.
As of the time of filing this report, Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police, had yet to do so.
