NASARAWA: Gunmen kidnap deputy governor’s driver

GUNMEN have kidnapped Daniel Ogoshi, the driver of the Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe.

Information gathered reveals that the driver was kidnapped from his friend’s home on Tuesday night about 9:30 pm in the state capital of Lafia, near Ombi 2, College of Agriculture, Kwandere Road.

With the gunmen leaving behind his car and his phone.

The victim’s family friend, who confirmed the occurrence, called it unfortunate adding that he had received a call at around 9 o’clock in the evening informing him that his brother had been abducted.

Reports reveal that kidnapping was now becoming a common occurrence in the state, such that even high-ranking officials are not spared.

Recall that Prof. Onje Gye-Wado, a former deputy governor of the state, was recently kidnapped and freed after a ransom of about N4 million was paid to his captors.

Speaking with the deputy governor’s press secretary, Chris Ehima, to verify the incident, he said he was aware of it but lacked sufficient knowledge of what had happened.

Ehima expressed dismay at the event and vowed that the state would take all necessary steps to ensure the release of the driver who had been kidnapped.

Additionally, while verifying the occurrence, the state’s police public relations officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, stated that the police were in control of the situation.
