VICTOR Osimhen has assured fans of Napoli and the people of Naples that they will soon be celebrating the Italian title.
The Super Eagles striker has been at the forefront of Napoli’s charge towards the Serie A title this season, scoring a league-high 21 goals.
He led the line last night as they defeated Juventus 1-0 in Turin to open a 17-point gap over second-placed Lazio at the top of the Serie A table with seven rounds of games left.
If Napoli beat Salernitana at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Saturday and Lazio fail to win at Inter Milan on Sunday, Osimhen and his teammates will become champions, with six games to spare.
The last time Napoli won the Serie A title was in 1990 when the legendary Diego Maradona inspired them to success, and 24-year-old Osimhen is confident the wait for another Scudetto is almost over.
“Dear Neapolitans, you have waited long enough! Now it’s your turn!!!” he tweeted today.
Neapolitans are indeed in celebratory mood already as footage has emerged over the past few days of decorations around the city in anticipation of the official crowning of Napoli as Italian champions.
The team bus was welcomed back from Turin to Naples last night by an unofficial convoy of motorcycles after the victory over Juventus.
