THE APC candidate and winner of the March 18, 2023 governorship election in Katsina State, Dr Dikko Umar Radda, has been sworn in today as Katsina state Governor at the Muhammadu Dikko Township Stadium in Katsina.
Dikko, 52, was a former SMEDAN Director General, Masari’s Chief of Staff, and Chairman of the Charanchi Local Government Council.
Initially Dikko’s major competitor in the Katsina 2023 gubernatorial election, Senator Yakubu Lado Danmarke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had threatened to go to court to challenge the result but later backed down, clearing the way for Dikko to enjoy an uncontested first term.
Dikko and his deputy, Faruk Lawal Jobe, took the oath of office delivered by the State’s Chief Judge, Danladi Abubakar, in the presence of the outgoing governor, Aminu Bello Masari, his deputy, Muntari Lawal, and other dignitaries between 10:40am and 10:45am.
The outgoing governor, Aminu Masari, immediately handed over the symbol of authority to the incoming governor, Dr Dikko Radda, signaling the end of Masari’s eight-year term as Katsina Governor.
Other dignitaries in attendance aat the inauguration include: Former Katsina Governor Ibrahim Shema, Abba Musa Rimi, and the governor of Maradi, Niger Republic, Abubakar Shuaibu.
