EDO: Former Commissioner, Adaze Emwanta, quits PDP

ADAZE Andrew Emwanta, a constitutional lawyer and former Commissioner of Communication and Orientation under Governor Godwin Obaseki, has officially resigned from the People’s Democratic Party.

In a letter dated June 14, 2023 addressed to the Chairman of PDP Egor Local Government Area, Emwanta said his decision is due to the perennial crisis rocking the party in his local government area as well as the “visible underdevelopment of our once great local area (from Uwelu to Evbuotubu)”.

According to him, the crisis rocking the party in the LGA “is being orchestrated by external forces, particularly those in Osadebe Avenue.”

He noted that during the party’s last caucus meeting in the LGA, he volunteered to sacrifice his Commissioner position for the peace to reign in the area.

“Sadly, things have become worse with the imposition of a local Godfather on us and this is not acceptable to me,” Emwanta said.

Adding, “arising from the foregoing, I also wish to withdraw my application letter to serve as the Commissioner representing Egor in the State Exco earlier submitted…”.

Emwanta first served as Commissioner of Communication and Orientation but was later moved to Ministry of Youth and Gender Affairs when Governor Obaseki reshuffled the Exco.
