Official: Carlo Ancelotti to coach Brazil from next year

CARLO Ancelotti will become the head coach of the Brazil national team from next year, the country’s football federation has announced.

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) said today that the Real Madrid manager will take over the national team after the expiration of his current contract with the Spanish giants in June 2024.

Fernando Diniz, who currently handles Fluminense, will be Brazil’s interim coach until Ancelotti resumes duties, the CBF confirmed today.

His contract will last one year, until September 2024, and will work with Ancelotti, who will take over during the 2024 Copa America, which will be held in the United States of America in June and July.

“Diniz is the new coach of the national team with a 12-month contract,” CBF president Ednaldo Rodriguez said today.

“He will manage the national team independently. Even if Ancelotti wants him to continue, he does not want to focus on that now. We understand that it is not a difficulty for Fluminense.

“There are many good coaches in Brazil, but he has done an innovative job, right from Audax, with a good philosophy, always the same method and a renewal in the tactical application.”

Ancelotti, 64, has had a successful coaching career with the likes of AC Milan, Juventus, Chelsea and Real Madrid but this job with Brazil will be his first with a national team.
