Nigerian Afrobeats megastar, David Adedeji Adeleke, best known as Davido on Sunday, July 2, sold out the 21,000 capacity Capital One Arena in Washington DC, as he treated fans to a collection of his classic hit songs during his ‘Timeless Tour’.
The ‘Timeless’ album has broken multiple streaming records on all major streaming platforms including the first-week African record on Apple Music and Spotify and the first-week all-time records on Audiomack and Boomplay.
The Timeless US Tour continues tomorrow with Omo Baba Olowo (O.B.O) performing at the Toyota Centre in Houston Texas before heading to the Credit 1 Arena in Chicago on Saturday.
Prior to the US Tour, Davido has previously performed songs from the hit list album to fans in Nigeria at the Timeless Xperience Concert held at the Tafawa Balewa Square Lagos.
The Fia and Fem singer had on March 31, released Timeless, his fourth album. The 17-track project came off the back of a rare quiet moment from the award-winning artiste who has made a name for himself as Africa’s most formidable hit maker.
A week after its release, the album shattered multiple African and Nigerian records across all the five major streaming platforms in Nigeria. It tallied 14.5 million streams during the week of March 31 – April 6, surpassing the previous record of 4.89 million streams by Burna Boy’s Love, Damini.
The album had over 12 million streams in its first 24 hours, more than any other album in the history of Audiomack. It also has the biggest week recorded for any Nigerian or African album in Audiomack history, and set a new record for the biggest debut week for any album on YouTube Nigeria with 4.10 million streams.
