Inter line up Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun as Lukaku option

INTER Milan are considering a move for Folarin Balogun in case their pursuit of Romelu Lukaku fails.

Balogun, the United States of America striker with Nigerian heritage, is currently back with Arsenal after a successful loan spell last season with Ligue 1 club Reims.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, the 22-year-old Balogun is among Inter‘s options if they fail to reach an agreement with Chelsea for Lukaku.

Last season’s UEFA Champions League losing finalists are in negotiations with Chelsea, hoping to secure the Belgium striker’s services for the third time after he returned to the Serie A club on loan last term.

Chelsea are believed to want a permanent €45m transfer, which Inter can only afford once goalkeeper André Onana joins Manchester United.

However, Inter Milan appear keen on another loan offer with an obligation to buy, a formula that Chelsea are now willing to accept.

According to Football Italia, today’s print edition of Il Corriere dello Sport claims Inter have already identified a few alternatives to Lukaku.

One of them is Balogun, who scored 21 goals in 35 appearances while on loan at Reims and is reportedly valued at €40m by the Gunners.

Mehdi Taremi, Alvaro Morata and Gianluca Scamacca are also being monitored by Inter Milan, according to the report. Incidentally, all the strikers have also been linked with AC Milan.
