AN 18-seater commercial bus carrying partygoers crashed and killed all passengers on board today in Lagos state.
The bus driver and his motor boy were both killed in the horrific event.
According to reports, the deceased passengers had leased the bus from the Lagos neighborhood of Yaba to attend a group party in the Republic of Benin.
Taofiq Adebayo, spokesman for the state’s traffic management authority stated that the collision occurred around 9 a.m. near Age-Mowo, close to Mowo on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
According to Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), “It involved a Mazda commercial bus with passengers and a truck loaded with sand,”
“The driver of the commercial bus lost control when he saw a truck ahead of him while trying to overtake the tipper truck loaded with sand.
“Immediately, 20 people died including the 18 passengers alongside the commercial bus driver and his motor boy.”
Adebayo said that the victims’ remains have been transferred to the morgue at Badagry General Hospital.
While also expressing its sympathies to the families of those that died in the incident.
