APC reschedules caucus, NEC meetings to honour Tinubu

THE ruling All Progressives Congress has postponed by one week the long-awaited sessions of its National Caucus and National Executive Committee, NEC, previously scheduled for today and tomorrow.

According to a statement issued in Abuja by the party’s National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore, both meetings will now take place on July 18 and 19.

“Members of the National Caucus and National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress are hereby informed that our meetings of 10th and 11th of July, 2023, have been postponed to the 18th and 19th of July, 2023, respectively,” the notice said.

Omisore went on to say that the date change was to honor President Bola Tinubu, who was inaugurated as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States yesterday afternoon in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau.

The ECOWAS chairmanship is a position held by one of the heads of state or government of the member countries, chosen on a rotating basis for one year.

“The postponement is necessitated by the regional and sub-regional schedules and engagements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States. Inconveniences regretted,” he said.

Meanwhile, the National Working Committee, led by Senator Abdullahi Adamu, would meet with all Chairmen of APC State Chapters today at the national secretariat in Abuja at 1 p.m.

The former Nasarawa governor intends to utilize the avenue to update state leaders on the nominees for the party’s statutory and ad hoc committees before they are brought before the NEC for approval.

According to a credible source at the national secretariat who corroborated the report, the nominations for the National Advisory Council were presented in accordance with Article 13.2 of the party Constitution.
