Ndidi, Iheanacho feature in relegated Leicester’s first pre-season clash

SUPER Eagles pair of Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho were involved today in Leicester City’s first match of pre-season.

The Nigeria internationals made substitute appearances for the Foxes as they fell 2-1 to League One side Peterborough at the Leicester City Training Ground.

Leicester City’s new manager Enzo Maresca started the behind-closed-doors match with a mixture of experienced players and youngsters, with new signings Conor Coady and Harry Winks joining Jamie Vardy, Ricardo Pereira and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in the first XI.

Kwame Poku opened the scoring early on for the visitors, coached by Sir Alex Ferguson’s son Darren, but Pereira restored parity for Leicester City before half-time.

Ndidi and Iheanacho were among Leicester City’s 11 changes at the beginning of the second half as Maresca took the opportunity to see as many players as possible in action.

Joe Tomlinson’s deflected shot late in the game handed victory to Peterborough against the relegated Foxes.

Ndidi and Iheanacho have been tipped to leave Leicester City following the club’s relegation from the Premier League, but no top flight clubs have been solidly linked with the Nigerian stars.

James Maddison has already left for Tottenham Hotspur, while Harvey Barnes, who was left out of today’s match, is believed to be close to a move to Newcastle United.

Ndidi and Iheanacho were among four Super Eagles stars relegated with their clubs from the Premier League last season, the others being Southampton’s Joe Aribo and Paul Onuachu.
