Yusuf Mahmoud… stepping on fron Sauti Busara

After 21 years as Busara Promotions CEO and Sauti za Busara festival director, I am approaching retirement and in process of handing over to new leaders. In the meantime, I shall remain forever thankful to hundreds of organisations and thousands of individuals for continued trust and cooperation through all the ups and downs.
Our success was always reliant on the inputs of many and diverse stakeholders, including board members, staff and crew, public and private sector festival partners, local and international artists, media organisations and audiences from across East Africa and the world.
The new leaders who ‘replace’ me will bring fresh energy and new ideas for the NGO, and for the festival. Journey Ramadhan has worked with us since 2009. He is well respected by all our partners, has multitasking skills, attention to detail, and is a great team player. Lorenz Herrmann, a German national with seven years in Tanzania, is also fluent in English and Kiswahili, with impressive experience and connections in the music industry. He is firmly committed and well-positioned to take Busara to new heights.
I continue to be in Zanzibar and available to offer advice and support, if required. I wish the new management team only goodness and blessings for the future. At the same time, I am 100% confident in their capabilities and dedication to keep Busara Promotions and Sauti za Busara continuing to grow from strength to strength.
With best wishes and salaams to all,
DJ Yusuf
