Napoli offer Osimhen lucrative deal as agent dismisses ‘fake news’

NAPOLI have shown Victor Osimhen how serious they are about keeping him by offering him a bumper new contract.

The Super Eagles striker’s current contract expires in 2025 and he is wanted by several big clubs across Europe.

Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has often insisted that the Nigeria international is not for sale except an ‘abnormal’ offer like €150m is put on his table.

Now, Sky Sports has claimed that Napoli have offered to raise Osimhen’s wages significantly to keep him at the Italian champions.

The outlet reported last night that Napoli were in advanced talks with the 24-year-old to extend his contract by two years with a salary offer of €6.5m a year plus €1m as bonuses.

Osimhen’s current wages are believed to be around €4m a year and there is growing confidence in Napoli that he will sign the new contract.

Meanwhile, Osimhen’s agent Roberto Calenda has debunked reports that claimed his client would not sign a new contract at Napoli.

The Super Eagles striker led Napoli’s attack last season, scoring 26 Serie A goals in 32 games as they claimed their first Scudetto in 33 years.

The Nigeria international has been courted by a slew of big European clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain but De Laurentiis has often insisted that his main man is not for sale.

Calenda took to Twitter yesterday to dismiss a report from Naples-based newspaper Il Mattino.

“I read in Il Mattino that ‘Calenda has no intention of renewing in the summer and that he wants to explore all avenues in the market first’. Fake news,” he wrote.

Osimhen joined Napoli from Lille in September 2020 for around €80m.
